Hi Inklings! It's been awhile since I've posted a "real" post, meaning one that is an actual review. I've been having some trouble lately... I continue to read and love reading, but the reviews just aren't flowing from me like they used to. I fear I've reached some form of writer's block. For the sake of the post, let's call it reviewer's block.
I try and try and try but the reviews sound forced and fail to do the books justice! This is how I feel at the moment:
Yeah. As you can see, I'm pretty horrified.
I'm hoping you fellow bloggers might have some tips on pushing through this dry spell. It's not that I'm lacking passion, I'm just trying to find a way of expressing it that isn't: I liked, I loved, or I feel that. I want my reviews to have some life again. Have you ever experienced 'reviewer's block'? If so, what did you do to get through it?

I totally relate right now!! I'm having some mad reviewers block. I'm trying to take a lot of notes while reading, but it seems like that doesn't help with the actual flow of a review. Hopefully we'll be able to pull ourselves out soon! I think it's just the fact that I have 6 reviews to be written and they're taunting me...
ReplyDeleteCan totally relate...For the time being maybe you should try mini reviews and go on a mini reviewing hiatus and write about something else maybe?
ReplyDeleteI've found that switching up the format of my reviews helps. I was having reviewer block for a while, so I switched to a more structured style of review featuring subheadings; recently I've switched over to a format where I try to link each book with my own personal experience. So my first paragraph will be a little anecdote from my life that will then lead into the review.
