To-Read Tuesday: Dark Lover

Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1)
by J.R. Ward
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Summary

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing their enemies more than Wrath, the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood...

The only purebred vampire left on the planet, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But when one of his most trusted fighters is killed - orphaning a half-breed daughter unaware of her heritage or her fate - Wrath must usher the beautiful female into the world of the undead...

Racked by a restlessness in her body that wasn't there, Beth Randall is helpless against the dangerously sexy man who comes at night with shadows in his eyes. His tales of brotherhood and blood frighten her. But his touch ignites a dawning hunger that threatens to consume them both....

Why do I want to read this?

I have heard nothing but praise for this series, and I feel so behind the times. I will probably be the last person to actually get around to reading this! I'm really looking forward to when I do though. I typically do not read many books from the romance genre, but I feel like I may have to make an exception for this to see what the hype is all about.

Review Excerpts From Goodreads

"Dark Lover has characters you can love (even those secondary ones), an interesting world with great mythology, a plot that needs to be devoured and really hot vampire love scenes that are used to move the plot forward and not just for the sake of being dirty." - Chelsea

"All of the hype about it leads you to believe that it is unfailingly awesome...well it was." - Daisiemae

"They seem like a dirty little secret for me. This is a "chick" book, yet I still read, wait for the next one, and fight my wife for who gets to read the next one first. I lose that fight every time." - Kevin S.
